What is the working principle of an adsorption dryer?
Analysis of working principle of adsorption dryer
The adsorption dryer is an efficient device that removes moisture from compressed air through physical adsorption technology. Its core lies in using the selective adsorption ability of porous materials to achieve deep air drying.
Step-by-step explanation of working principle:
-
adsorption phase
The interior of the equipment is filled with high-performance adsorbents such as activated alumina and molecular sieves. When humid compressed air enters the dryer, water molecules are trapped and attached to the microporous structure due to the strong affinity of the adsorbent surface. This process is like “sponge absorbing water”, physically separating the moisture in the air and outputting compressed air with a standard dryness. -
regeneration phase
As the adsorption progresses, the adsorbent gradually reaches a saturated state. At this time, the equipment will automatically switch to the regeneration program and restore the adsorption capacity in two ways:- heating regeneration: Use a heater to increase the temperature of the regeneration airflow, reduce the adsorption force of water molecules, and make it escape from the adsorbent and be discharged with the airflow.
- heatless regenerative: Use dried compressed air to reverse purge to promote moisture analysis through pressure changes. Both methods require no chemical reagents and are a complete physical process.
-
Double towers running alternately
Typical equipment adopts a double tower structure design. When one tower is in adsorption operation, the other tower is regenerated simultaneously. Seamless switching is achieved through the intelligent control system to ensure continuous and stable supply of compressed air and avoid interruption of air supply caused by regeneration.
Technical characteristics and application value
This technology can reduce the dew point temperature of compressed air to-40℃ to-70℃, effectively preventing dew condensation in pipes and corrosion of gas-using equipment. It is especially suitable for scenarios with strict air dryness requirements, such as:
- precision manufacturing: Ensure surface quality of spraying, laser cutting and other processes
- electronics industry: Prevent components from short circuiting due to moisture
- pharmaceutical and food: Meet the needs of sterile packaging environment
Adsorption dryers focus on physical adsorption and maintain the activity of the adsorbent through periodic regeneration to form a sustainable deep drying solution and become an important part of modern industrial compressed air treatment systems.
