Quality requirements for compressed air in five-axis machining centers

As a high-precision manufacturing equipment, five-axis machining center has strict specifications for compressed air quality. In order to ensure stable operation and extend service life of equipment, compressed air needs to meet the following core requirements:

1. Moisture control
The compressed air must be kept dry to avoid carrying liquid moisture. Humid air may cause corrosion of air path components, aging of seals, and even malfunction of precision components. It is recommended to control the air humidity within a reasonable range through professional drying devices to ensure a dry internal environment of the equipment.

2. Cleanliness guarantee
Impurities such as dust and oil in the air can block gas pipelines and wear precision components such as valve cores. A multi-stage filtration system is needed to effectively filter out fine particulate pollutants and ensure that the air flow entering the equipment is clean and free of impurities, just like undergoing deep treatment by an “air purifier”.

3. Pressure stability
Air pressure fluctuations may cause delay or vibration of the processing head, affecting processing accuracy. The equipment requires the compressed air pressure to be continuously stable to avoid sudden increases and drops in pressure, just like providing smooth “breathing support” for the equipment.

4. Oil-free requirements
Oil-containing air will pollute pneumatic components, form oil scale deposits, and increase the frequency of equipment maintenance. An oil-free lubricated compressor or a deep oil removal device needs to be used to ensure that the air flow is pure and oil-free to avoid secondary pollution to the processing environment.

Meeting the above requirements can significantly reduce equipment failure rates, improve the surface quality of processed parts, and at the same time reduce unplanned downtime, providing reliable guarantee for high-precision manufacturing.
