How to use an oil-lubricated air compressor

Air compressors are equipment that converts mechanical energy into gas pressure energy, and their operation must strictly follow regulations to ensure safe and efficient operation. The following is a systematic explanation from four aspects: operating steps, safety specifications, maintenance and fault handling:

1. Basic operating steps

  1. Prepare before starting the machine
    • Placement and Inspection: Place the equipment on a smooth ground, check whether each component is connected firmly, and ensure that the air inlet and exhaust ports are not blocked.
    • Oil level and lubrication: Check the lubricating oil level to ensure that it is in the middle of the oil mirror; for belt drive models, it is necessary to confirm that the belt tightness is appropriate.
    • Valves and power supplies: Open the exhaust valve, close the manual drain valve, connect the power supply and observe whether the instrument indication is normal.
  2. start-up and operation
    • startup operation: Press the start button and the device will run according to the preset program. Observe the display panel parameters (such as pressure and temperature) to ensure that the exhaust pressure does not exceed the rated value (usually 0.85MPa) and the exhaust temperature does not exceed 105℃.
    • operation monitoring: Listen to the operating sound of the equipment and check for oil leaks, abnormal vibrations or odors. Regularly record operating data such as pressure, temperature, etc.
  3. Shutdown and shutdown
    • normal shutdown: Press the shutdown button, and the equipment will be unloaded first and then shut down. This process is a normal phenomenon.
    • subsequent operations: After shutdown, close the exhaust valve, cut off the power supply, and drain the accumulated water in the cooler and oil-water separator to prevent corrosion.

2. Safe use specifications

  1. preflight check
    • safety accessories: Make sure that safety valves, pressure gauges and other accessories are intact and within the validity period, and verify them at least once a year.
    • guard: Check whether a protective cover is installed on the belt driving part to avoid injury caused by personal contact.
    • environmental requirements: Equipment should be kept away from pollution sources such as steam and dust, and filter devices should be installed on the air inlet pipe.
  2. In-service monitoring
    • condensate drain: Drain condensate from the air storage tank every 4 hours to prevent accumulated water from affecting equipment performance.
    • prohibited acts: It is strictly prohibited to stay at the air outlet or blow people with compressed air to prevent personal injury caused by high-pressure air.
  3. Emergency Management
    • shut down immediately: When encountering abnormal sounds, sudden changes in pressure, or safety valve failure, immediately press the emergency stop button.
    • troubleshooting: After troubleshooting, reset the emergency stop button and restart the equipment according to normal procedures.

3. Daily maintenance and maintenance

  1. daily maintenance
    • cleaning and inspection: Clean the dust on the surface of the equipment, check the pipelines and valves for leaks, and tighten and loosen parts.
    • Oil level and water quality: Check the lubricating oil level, drain the condensed water from the oil and gas drums, and ensure that the oil quality is clean.
  2. regular maintenance
    • 500 hours of maintenance: Clean the air filter element, replace the coolant, and check the action of the intake valve.
    • 2000 hours of maintenance: Replace the air filter element and oil filter, replenish motor grease, and check the wear of each component.
    • 6000 hours of maintenance: Clean the cooling system, replace advanced coolant, and conduct comprehensive inspection and adjustment of the equipment.
  3. annual overhaul
    • Core component replacement: Replace the oil and gas separator, check the wear of the screw rotor, calibrate safety valves and other safety accessories.
    • embalmed: Comprehensively clean the equipment and paint it with anti-corrosion treatment to extend its service life.

4. Common problems and handling

  1. device cannot start
    • check the power: Make sure the power is connected and the fuse is intact, and check whether the starter contacts are oxidized or loose.
    • initialization protection: If the equipment stops due to overload or failure, the protection device needs to be reset and then started after the failure is eliminated.
  2. Insufficient exhaust pressure
    • Cleaning filter element: Check and clean or replace blocked air filter elements to ensure smooth air intake.
    • check the pipeline: Check the pipeline for leaks, tighten the joints or replace seals.
  3. Equipment overheated and shutdown
    • Cleaning the cooler: Remove dust and dirt from the cooler surface to ensure good heat dissipation.
    • replace lubricating oil: Check the oil level and quality of the lubricating oil, and replace it with new oil if necessary.
  4. abnormal noise or vibration
    • adjust the belt: Check the tightness of the belt, adjust it to the appropriate position or replace the damaged belt.
    • replace the bearing: Check the wear of bearings, gears and other components, and replace the worn parts in time.

By strictly following operating procedures, safety regulations and maintenance plans, long-term stable operation of the air compressor can be ensured, failure rates are reduced and service life is extended. When encountering complex faults, it is recommended to contact professional maintenance personnel for handling them.
